When Dizziness Becomes a Problem...

Sometimes it’s hard to determine who you should see for dizziness. Physical therapists are a part of the care team that many people don’t think about. Here are some screening questions to help you decide if you should see a physical therapist:

✅ Do you get dizzy rolling over in bed?

✅ Do you get dizzy looking up or down?

✅ Do you get dizzy when you turn your head?

✅ Do you get dizzy watching traffic?

✅ Do you get dizzy looking at busy patterns?

✅ Are you having issues with balance?

✅ Is your dizziness worse with your eyes closed?

Here are some very overlooked tips that can really help.

👉 When dizziness sets in suddenly WAIT for it to pass before changing positions

👉 Move your head like normal at a slower pace in a range that is NOT symptomatic rather than avoiding head movement altogether

👉When dizziness seems to build up STOP and take a rest and allow your symptoms to decrease and return to their starting point rather than waiting for it to reach an unmanageable level.
